Navigating Politics as Christians
Today, we’re gonna tackle a topic that’s buzzing around like bees on a hot summer day: How should we, as Christians, dance with politics? What does the Good Book say about it when the air’s thick with debate?
Inspired by a Powerful Message
I’ll be honest, I had my spiel all lined up. But after catching Pastor Todd Strain’s electrifying sermon on this very topic, I knew I had to switch gears. His words hit harder than a bolt of lightning. So, I’m passing along a snippet of his wisdom. Wanna hear the whole shebang? Check the link below, and trust me, it’s a doozy!
Main Truth: God is Sovereign
Here’s the scoop: God’s the big boss over every kingdom. He picks who sits on thrones. This nugget pops up thrice in the Bible and packs a punch.
Implications of God’s Sovereignty
First up, God’s got the reins on every nation from the dawn of time. Acts 17:26 spills the beans on this: “From one man God made all the nations…” Our worry over elections? Kinda like fretting over spilled milk. Daniel reminds us: God’s got this. Our faith should hang on the Lord, not politicians. I mean, who else can turn water into wine or make a donkey chat? Political debates, eat your heart out!
How Then Shall We Live?
Knowing all this, how do we roll? Do we become wallflowers? Nope, we got three moves to make:
Pursue Jesus
Daniel’s tale shows us, no matter who’s in charge, he put God in the driver’s seat. He stuck with God even when things got dicey. Matthew 6:33 nudges us to seek God first. So, White House or no, let’s chase after Jesus.
Participate in the Process
Daniel worked in government and aimed for the kingdom’s well-being. We’ve got the perk of democracy, where we can vote and stand up for what’s right. Jeremiah 29:7 gives us a nudge to seek peace and prosperity where we are.
Pray for Leaders
Daniel was a prayer warrior, and we should be too. Paul nudges us in 1 Timothy 2 to pray for those in charge. They could use some wisdom and courage, right? Even politicians need a sprinkle of divine help!
So, let’s make it a habit to pray for our leaders, whether they’re our cup of tea or not. As Christians, we’re called to stand out, to be the salt and light this world craves.
